Job Summary

The Shop Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing natural gas compression equipment. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform job activities in accordance with Kodiak’s procedures, protocols, goals and objectives.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment to identify potential problems and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including work orders, parts used, and time spent on each task.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Participate in safety training and meetings.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on natural gas compression equipment, including compressors, engines, and related systems.
  • Work closely with other shop technicians and the Shop Manager to address equipment issues and improve operational efficiency.
  • Ensure all repairs and maintenance tasks are performed to the highest quality standards and in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
Education & Certifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in mechanical, electrical, or related field preferred.
Work Experience

Minimum of 2 years of experience in maintenance and repair of natural gas compression equipment or similar mechanical systems.

Skills & Abilities
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Demands

Requires operation of heavy equipment and standing for up to 75% of the time. Requires climbing ladders or stairs, inspecting, repairing, and painting equipment. Must be able to frequently lift at least 10 pounds and, infrequently, lift more than 50 pounds. High noise environment (>85 dB) will occur; ear protection is required. Potential controlled exposure to hazardous chemicals. Work in outdoor conditions, including extreme heat and cold. Must move and maintain self in different positions—stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl—to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces. Must wear all required PPE, including fire-retardant clothing, hard hats, face shields, hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots. Requires frequent typing and use of computer and other office equipment such as a copier, printer, calendar, telephone, etc.
