Job summary

LOHR North America is seeking a Shop Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of the service shop, lead technicians, and ensure timely, high-quality repairs and refurbishments.

The role requires strong leadership, mechanical knowledge, and organizational skills to drive safe, efficient shop performance and foster teamwork and accountability. Full-time schedule is Monday–Friday with standard hours.

Qualifications

• Must be eighteen years of age or older.
• Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
• 3+ years of experience in a service writer, service advisor, or customer service role in a mechanical, automotive, or equipment environment
• Basic mechanical or technical knowledge of vehicles or heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily activities of service technicians, assigning work orders and monitoring progress.
• Manage workflow scheduling to maximize efficiency and meet delivery deadlines.
• Prepare repair quotes and support customer approval to ensure timely project initiation.
• Oversee quality control of all repairs, refurbishments, and maintenance work.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and show-ready production floor.
• Collaborate with the parts department to secure timely availability of required materials and components.
• Monitor and manage shop inventory, tools, and equipment to ensure operational readiness.
• Maintain shop equipment by following operating instructions and coordinating repairs as needed.
• Provide training, coaching, and leadership support to technicians to promote skills development and job performance.
• Troubleshoot complex technical problems and support technicians with diagnosis and repair planning.
• Verify the completion and accuracy of service orders, documentation, and customer reports.
• Support warranty processes by validating repairs and assisting with required claim documentation.
• Participate in Health & Safety meetings and ensure compliance with company safety policies and applicable regulations.

Summary:

The Shop Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the service shop, managing technicians, ensuring the quality of repairs and refurbishments, maintaining safety standards, and optimizing workflow.

This role serves as the key point of coordination between technicians, parts department, and service management to ensure timely and high-quality service delivery. The ideal candidate has strong leadership abilities, mechanical expertise, and organizational skills to drive a Safe, efficient and effective shop operations will fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and operational excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervise daily activities of service technicians, assigning work orders and monitoring progress.
• Manage workflow scheduling to maximize efficiency and meet delivery deadlines.
• Prepare repair quotes and support customer approval to ensure timely project initiation.
• Oversee quality control of all repairs, refurbishments, and maintenance work.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and "show-ready" production floor.
• Collaborate with the parts department to secure timely availability of required materials and components.

• Maintain shop equipment by following operating instructions, performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting breakdowns, and coordinating repairs as needed.
• Provide training, coaching, and leadership support to technicians to promote skills development and job performance.
• Troubleshoot complex technical problems and support technicians with diagnosis and repair planning.
• Verify the completion and accuracy of service orders, documentation, and customer reports.
• Support warranty processes by validating repairs and assisting with required claim documentation.
• Participate in production and service meetings to align shop activities with business objectives.
• Participate in Health & Safety meetings and ensure compliance with company safety policies and applicable regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support After Sales operations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Direct supervision of service technicians.
• Assist the department manager with hiring and training as planned.
• Oversee the daily workflow and schedules of the department.
• Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
• Supports the manager with disciplinary’s and terminations.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be eighteen years of age or older.
• Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
• 3+ years of experience in a service writer, service advisor, or customer service role in a mechanical, automotive, or equipment environment
• Basic mechanical or technical knowledge of vehicles or heavy equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree in Automotive Technology, Diesel Technology, or related field.
• Experience in the car hauler, trailer, trucking, or heavy equipment industry.
• Welding and fabrication knowledge a plus.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Class A CDL license is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge in DOT compliance, Lean Management, 5S Knowledge.
• Familiarity with warranty claims processes.

Travel Requirements:

• Minimal, as needed.

Physical Requirements

• Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.
• Use required personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Typically in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors such as temperature extremes, loud noise, and fumes which cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness
