Quality Repair Solutions (QRS) in Robstown, TX is seeking an energetic Shop Supervisor to lead our maintenance team for tractors and trailers. You will supervise mechanics, schedule preventive maintenance, and ensure safety and DOT compliance while delivering reliable service from a service truck.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in shop supervision, 5+ years in fleet maintenance, and strong knowledge of diesel, electrical, and hydraulic systems, with proficiency in maintenance software and MS

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a Shop Supervisory or Lead Mechanic position
• 5+ years' industry experience in fleet maintenance
• Must possess the required tools for this role
• Knowledge of diesel engines, air, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems
• Thorough knowledge of tractor and trailer maintenance, DOT rules and regulations
• Competent in Microsoft Excel and Word; ability to use vehicle diagnostic software
• Proficient in repair and purchase orders in maintenance software

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair equipment assigned to the terminal.
• Schedule preventive maintenance weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually.
• Annotate maintenance in forms and data into maintenance software (e.g., TMT).
• Manage shop facility safely and efficiently within OSHA guidelines.
• Maintain inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment.
• Schedule and supervise mechanics to meet maintenance requirements within budget.

Job Summary

Responsible for diagnosing, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on semi-truck trailers and tractors, including tasks like brake adjustments, tire replacements, electrical troubleshooting, basic structural repairs, and more, all while working out of a service truck and adhering to strict safety regulations; general repairs on tractor and trailer units in accordance with DOT, federal and state regulations and company standards. Uses technical publications or automated systems in maintaining vehicles to prescribed manufacturers’ maintenance schedules and for researching parts. Properly annotates all maintenance and labor performed in maintenance management software.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for the maintenance and repair of all equipment assigned to the company terminal.
• Schedules weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual preventive maintenance.
• Properly annotates all maintenance performed on prescribed forms and enters data into TMT and other data collection systems.Manages the shop facility in a safe, efficient, timely, cost-effective and practical manner and in compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies.
• Adheres to all established safety policies and standards to include identification, use, and proper procedures for handling or disposal of hazardous wastes.
• Manage and maintain an inventory of spare parts, tools, specialized test equipment, and consumables.
• Schedule and supervise mechanics to meet terminal maintenance requirements within budget.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the RFM.

Skills and Abilities

• Must Possess at least 2+ years in a Shop Supervisory or Lead Mechanic position
• Must possess at least 5+ years' industry experience in fleet maintenance
• Must possess the required tools for this role.
• Knowledge is mandatory of vehicle and equipment theory, principles and repair relating to diesel engines, air, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
• Thorough knowledge of tractor and trailer maintenance, DOT rules and regulations, company policies and procedures.
• Competent computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Excel and Word and other web-based applications. Ability to use vehicle diagnostic software.
• Proficient in the use and completion of repair and purchase orders produced by a maintenance management system.

Education and Experience

• Minimum special knowledge and skills required: 3 to 5 years as a fleet maintenance supervisor preferred.
• DOT HM-183 training or experience a plus.
• ASE certification is not required but highly recommended.
• High school diploma, completion of G.E.D., or equivalent vocational school. Plus course work in auto and equipment mechanics at a trade school and six (6) years of experience as a mechanic, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum special knowledge and skills required

• 3 to 5 years as a fleet maintenance supervisor preferred.
• ASE certification not required but recommended.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

• This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, hours depend on location.

• The shop has a climate similar to outdoor weather. Frequent exposure to loud machinery, air tool operation, hammering and engine noise.
