Position Summary

Oversee and manage service operations at specified shop location, ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the service centers. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of leadership, operational, and customer-focused duties, as outlined below.

Areas of Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Leadership and Management
    • Provide direction and leadership to shop operations
    • Supervise and support mechanics
    • Monitor and access shop performance.
  • Operational Oversight
    • Collaborate with Dedicated Service Managers to establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to service quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the shop, ensuring smooth workflow, optimal resource allocation, and timely completion of repairs and maintenance.
    • Implement and enforce standardized processes, procedures, and safety protocols to enhance operational excellence.
  • Customer Relationship Management
    • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key customer, to understand their needs and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
    • Collaborate with Dedicated Service Managers to address customer inquiries, concerns, and service requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Employee Management and Development
    • Supervise all employees assigned to service shop
    • Enforce all employee policies and procedures, including and up to discipline actions and termination
    • Approve and process employee time records and PTO requests
    • Conduct employee performance evaluations
    • Coordinate training initiatives to ensure technicians stay up to date with industry trends, technology advancements, and best practices.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, innovation, and automation to streamline operations and enhance service quality.
  • Compliance and Safety
    • Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations, industry standards, and compliance requirements within the service shop.
    • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to address and resolve any safety or compliance issues promptly.
    • Ensure a safe, organized and tidy working environment
  • Reporting and Communication
    • Prepare and audit regular reports as required by customer and Dedicated Service Manager to manage key performance indicators.
    • Foster clear and open communication channels across the service centers, promoting a

· Crisis Management

o Act swiftly and decisively in response to unexpected events or emergencies, effectively managing crises and minimizing disruptions to operations.

o Inspect and monitor condition of equipment, tooling and facility.

o Communicate maintenance and repair needs to appropriate corporate department

o Keep shop clean and organized, according to company standards

  • Vast knowledge of semi-trailer repair methods, job costing and mechanical knowledge
  • Must be able to read and write in English in order to document diagnosis and document solutions
  • Analyze and diagnose mechanical issues relating to trucks and trailers
  • Detailed knowledge of all trailer mechanical systems and parts (and trucks is supervising diesel techs) and deep and broad experience in performing repairs to these systems
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Vocational/ Trade-School certification preferred
  • ASE certifications highly desired
    • Class A Mechanic requires 5+ years of experience
    • Class B Mechanic requires 3-5 years of experience
    • Class C Mechanic requires 1-3 years of experience
  • Able to pass pre-employment knowledge or skill testing designed to determine probability of success on the job and mechanic classification
  • Able to pass background check
  • Proven mechanical acuity and basic math skills

Tool Requirements: (If hired as Working Supervisor)

  • Toolbox: 3 Drawer or Larger Top Chest with Bottom Box
  • Pneumatic Tools: Drill, Air Hammer, Air Riveter 1/4"

Physical Demands/Abilities performed throughout the duration of the work shift:

  • Heavy Work- Exerting up to 100lbs of force occasionally and/or up to 50lbs of force frequently or up to 20lbs of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including other job related items.
  • Walking/Standing for sustained periods of time.
  • Climbing – Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like, using entire body
  • Stooping/Crouching – Bending body downward and forward by bending at the waist, legs, and spine.
  • Balancing – Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling.
  • Kneeling/Crawling – Bending legs at knee to rest on knee(s) or moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
  • Whole Hand/Fingers – Picking, pinching, typing with fingers and grasping with the fingers and palm.
  • Repetitive Motion – Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Talking – Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to others accurately and quickly when necessary.
  • Hearing – Receiving detailed information through oral communication at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
  • Vision – Close visual acuity to perform activities such as reading, using measurement devices, viewing electronic devices, assembling, inspecting small parts and/or operating machines and power tools, operate a motor vehicle and determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work performed.

Work Environment: Work is performed in a shop; both indoors and outdoors. Activities occur inside and outside and are subject to work environments that are not climate controlled, weather, and hot/cold temperature changes, dirt, dust, soot and possibly mold, loud noise, and ladders to use for high heights. Potential hazards such as moving vehicles, proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, high places, high heat, and exposure to chemicals, atmospheric conditions (e.g. fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases), or poor ventilation, or a workspace may be exposed to smoke residue, mold and mildew, contaminated water, or other unsanitary conditions as well as being in closed quarters/confined spaces (e.g. crawl spaces, small, enclosed rooms, attics, etc.) revise or change job duties and responsibilities as the need arises.
