Job summary

Interstate Mechanical LLC is seeking a full-time Shop Welder/Pipefitter in Phoenix, AZ. This role involves welding and pipe fit-up in a shop setting with limited field work, including carbon steel pipe prep, welding, and 6G work.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, preparing pipe, and operating a forklift or overhead crane. TIG welding is a plus but not required; pre-employment weld test and certifications are needed.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of commercial/industrial pipe welding and/or pipe fitting experience.
• Current 6G carbon steel pipe certification or ability to certify through IMCOR.
• Demonstrated ability to fit up and prepare steel pipe for welding.
• TIG welding ability or certification is a plus, not required.
• Must pass pre-employment weld test and provide certifications.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, spool drawings, and welding process specs.
• Measure, fit up, cut, bevel, prep, and align carbon steel pipe for welding.
• Perform carbon steel pipe welding, including 6G work, using ARC/SMAW.
• TIG welding when qualified; TIG ability preferred but not required.
• Safely operate a warehouse forklift and overhead crane to move pipe and assemblies.
• Maintain quality standards and a safe, organized shop area.
• Complete other shop and fabrication duties as assigned.
