Job summary

Interstate Mechanical LLC in Phoenix, AZ is hiring a Shop Welder/Pipefitter to join our fabrication shop. The role focuses on welding and pipe fit-up in a shop environment, not field work.

Candidates should have 3–5 years of pipe welding/ fitting experience, a current 6G carbon steel certification, and the ability to read blueprints and prep pipe for welding. TIG is a plus, and pre-employment weld tests apply.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of commercial or industrial pipe welding and/or pipe fitting experience.
• Current 6G carbon steel pipe certification or ability to certify.
• Demonstrated ability to fit up and prepare steel pipe for welding.
• Ability to operate a warehouse forklift and overhead crane; certifications are preferred but not required.
• TIG welding ability or certification is a plus, but not required.
• Must successfully complete a pre-employment weld test and provide current welding certifications.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, spool drawings, and welding process specifications.
• Measure, fit up, cut, bevel, prep, and align carbon steel pipe for welding.
• Perform carbon steel pipe welding, including 6G work, using ARC/SMAW processes.
• TIG welding when qualified; TIG ability or certification is preferred but not required.
• Safely operate a warehouse forklift and overhead crane to move pipe and fabricated assemblies.
• Maintain quality standards, safe work practices, and an organized shop area.
• Complete other shop and fabrication duties as assigned.
