Job summary

The Shop Operations Manager at AHW LLC supports the Service Manager in coordinating the workload of the Service Department to maximize efficiency and productivity while ensuring quality repair work for Mid Ag, Small Tractor, Turf and Utility, and Compact Construction Equipment. This role involves directing technicians, reviewing repair orders, and maintaining customer communications.

Requires a minimum of 3 years in service department operations and an Associate degree or equivalent experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Service Department operations.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and internet-based tools.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Associate degree or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities

• Monitors Service Department metrics monthly to ensure achievement of department goals.
• Provides performance feedback for service technicians and staff to the Service Manager.
• Oversees and directs the shop technicians in scheduling work and performance.
• Directs and assists technicians in the diagnosis of Mid Ag, Small Tractor, Turf and Utility, and Compact Construction Equipment.
• Assists in the quoting of repair orders coming into the Service Department and reviews repair orders for accuracy and completeness.
• Reviews and explains any maintenance, repair, or other service concerns directly with the customer and documents on work order.
• Opens work orders as directed by the Service Manager and maintains control until closed and invoiced.
• Fields internal and external customer inquiries to the Service Department.
• Attends schooling and seminars as directed by management.
• Performs complex diagnostics and repairs on agricultural and/or turf equipment.
• Charges out at least 50% of their labor.
• May participate in required Service EDUCATE Training programs.
• Supports customer clinics.
• May promote and sell dealer service programs directly to customers.
• Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
• Maintains condition of mobile service vehicle, trailer, inventory, tools and equipment, ensuring all are in good working order.
• Maintains a safe working environment and adheres to company safety program at all times.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Service Department operations
• Proficient in using standard desktop applications such as Microsoft Office and internet-based tools
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage both individuals and groups
• Knowledgeable about John Deere products and competitive brands
• Basic understanding of financial principles related to Service Department operations
• Skilled in analyzing and interpreting internal reports
• Flexibility to work extended hours and weekends as needed
• Excellent customer service abilities, with a focus on meeting client needs
• Associate degree or equivalent work experience

Pay Range:

$27.00 - $32.00 per hour
