Job summary

Ford-Gelatt, a SunSource Company, is seeking a Pump Technician for our Baton Rouge, LA repair facility. You will disassemble, inspect, and reassemble industrial fluid process equipment, ensuring components meet specifications and are tested thoroughly.

You will read blueprints, use precision measuring tools, document findings, and collaborate with a team of skilled mechanics. The role requires physical stamina and adherence to safety standards, with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years hands-on pump mechanic experience.
• Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings and work orders.
• Proficiency with measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, fillet gauges, etc.).
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to stand for majority of the workday and lift up to 75 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, clean and inspect industrial fluid process equipment, including pumps, gearboxes and other rotating machinery.
• Clean all components of equipment for inspection.
• Balance rotors and assemblies using balancing machine.
• Assemble equipment and perform testing.
• Maintain documentation of measurements, parts replaced and test results.
• Operate shop machinery and equipment safely (cranes, forklifts, grinders, etc.).
• Work with a team of mechanics and machinists in daily operations.
• Participate in continuous improvement through training and associate development.

Job description

Ford-Gelatt, a SunSource Company and leading distributor and repair center of process pumps and components in the fluid process market, is currently seeking a Pump Technician for our Baton Rouge, LA repair facility. We’re looking for an energetic, self-driven, and highly technical individual to join our Repair team.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

• Disassembly, clean and inspect industrial fluid process equipment, including pumps, gearboxes and other rotating machinery
• Clean all components of equipment for inspection
• Measure shafts and all critical fits using mics and calipers as needed
• Complete necessary paperwork documenting all findings and outlining necessary repair scope to bring equipment back to specifications
• Balance rotors and assemblies using balancing machine
• Assemble equipment complete and perform necessary testing
• Maintain all documentation, including all measurements taken, parts replaced and all test results
• Operating shop machinery and equipment, such as cranes, forklifts, grinders, etc in safety and in compliance with company and OSHA standards
• Work together with a team of mechanics and machinists in day-to-day operations
• Maintain workstation regarding cleanliness and organization
• Participate in continuous improvement through training and associate development
• Work overtime and perform other duties as needed

Qualified individuals will have the following skills and experience:

• A high school diploma or GED minimum. Formal training in industrial technology, mechanics or related field in which rotating equipment is a part of the curriculum or certification preferred
• Minimum 3 to 5 years hands-on pump mechanic experience required
• Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings and work orders
• Proficiency with measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, fillet gauges, etc.
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and handle daily changes in schedule and priorities
• Must be able to stand for majority of workday and lift up to 75 lbs
