Job summary

Insituform Technologies, LLC in Johnston, Rhode Island is seeking a Shop Manager to lead the Johnston shop and ensure safe, reliable equipment for pipeline rehabilitation operations. The Shop Manager reports to the Equipment Manager and supervises Rhode Island mechanics.

This role oversees daily shop operations, maintenance, repairs, equipment readiness, and staff development, coordinating with operations, vendors, and administrative staff to prioritize work, control costs, and keep equipment

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience in equipment maintenance, fleet ops, or shop supervision with mechanical knowledge and leadership ability.
• Ability to lead mechanics, prioritize workloads, and manage maintenance with minimal supervision.
• Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and maintenance instructions.
• Proficiency with computers and maintenance systems, strong organization and recordkeeping.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making with safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the mechanic team, assign daily work and set safety, productivity, quality standards.
• Plan preventive maintenance, repairs, and inspections; coordinate with field leadership to minimize downtime.
• Provide hands-on troubleshooting and repair support; verify repair quality.
• Manage vendor relationships and outside repairs; monitor progress and communicate status.
• Review repair estimates, control costs, and recommend repairs or replacements.
• Ensure maintenance records, work orders, and invoices are accurate and timely.
