Job summary

DistributionNOW is seeking a Shop Hand to oversee daily pump shop operations and support mechanics. You will finish, assemble, install, test, and document work on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fluid, and pneumatic components.

Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow procedures to ensure quality. The role requires a high school diploma, experience with hand tools, ability to read a tape measure, and the capability to lead others.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent work experience.
• Experience with hand tools including drills, grinders and sanders.
• Ability to read, use and interpret a tape measure.
• Ability to lead others and communicate effectively.
• Organized and detail-oriented; able to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Finish, assemble, install, and test components and assemblies of products (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fluid, pneumatic).
• Clean, sand, cut, bend, deburr, paint, and polish products.
• Assist in testing components, assemblies, and systems for proper operation.
• Maintain inspection paperwork and documentation.
• Follow procedures and uphold quality standards.
• Maintain clean and organized work area and tools.
• Paint and sandblast products; thread conduit and pipe.
• Inspect products with appropriate inspection equipment.
• Overtime (>40 hours) may be required; work as a team member.
• Represent Pipe Shop in staff meetings; perform other duties as assigned.

The Shop Hand is responsible for overseeing day to day activities and complete operation of the Pump Shop.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Finishing, assembling, installation, and testing of components and assemblies of products including but not limited to; mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fluid, and pneumatic equipment applications
• Cleaning, sanding, cutting, bending, de-burring, painting, and polishing of products
• Assist in testing of components, assemblies, and systems for correct operation and performance
• Maintain proper and accurate paperwork including completion of inspection documentation
• Follow documented procedures and maintain a high degree of quality
• Perform housekeeping, organization, and maintenance of work area and tools
• Painting and sandblasting of product
• Threading of conduit and pipe
• Perform inspection of products using inspection equipment applicable to the task
• In order to achieve business objectives, work weeks in excess of 40 hours may be required
• Function as a team member and support other teams
• Ensure company policies are followed
• Represent Pipe Shop in staff meetings
• Other duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• High School diploma or equivalent work experience
• Experience with hand tools, including but not limited to, drills, grinders and sanders
• Ability to use, read and interpret a tape measure
