Job summary

Firematic in United States (New York area) is seeking a Shop Foreman to lead our service shop for fire apparatus. You will oversee repairs, maintenance, refurbishments, and inspections, coordinating with management, parts, and customers to deliver safe, high-quality work.

We value hands-on leadership, strong diagnostics, diesel and hydraulic knowledge, and the ability to mentor technicians and apprentices. EVT/ASE preferred; CDL preferred or willing to obtain. Competitive benefits available.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a lead technician, foreman, or supervisor in heavy-duty truck, diesel, fleet, or fire apparatus repair
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities
• Knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, aerial systems, pumps, and apparatus components preferred
• Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• EVT and/or ASE certifications preferred
• CDL license preferred or willingness to obtain
• Computer proficiency with service software and repair documentation
• Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support technicians in daily shop operations
• Assign and prioritize work based on scheduling, technician skill level, and customer needs
• Monitor repair quality, productivity, and job completion timelines
• Assist technicians with diagnostics, troubleshooting, and complex repairs
• Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company policies and industry standards
• Review repair orders, technician notes, and completed work for accuracy
• Coordinate with the parts department to ensure timely availability of parts and materials
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient shop environment
• Provide coaching, training, and mentorship to technicians and apprentices
• Participate in technician performance evaluations and development planning
• Support emergency road service and customer uptime needs when necessary
• Communicate effectively with service advisors, management, and customers regarding repair status and technical concerns
• Promote a positive team culture focused on accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement

Position Summary

The Shop Foreman oversees the day‑to‑day activities of the service shop, ensuring repairs, maintenance, refurbishments, and inspections are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
