Job description

Territory: South Seattle, WA (100% On-Site, 5 days a week)

About Cascade Machinery & Electric, Inc. Since 1918, Cascade Machinery & Electric, Inc. has been the Pacific Northwest’s trusted partner for complex, mission-critical industrial equipment. We are a multi-generational, family-run business headquartered in Seattle. For over a century, our union-certified technicians and expert machinists have specialized in the sales, service, and emergency repair of electric motors, pumps, and air compressors. From servicing airport fueling stations to maintaining critical lift stations and marine terminals, our work powers the infrastructure our region relies on every day. We aren’t just an equipment distributor—we are a full-service, 24/7 solutions provider known for our deep expertise, local inventory, and commitment to doing the job right.

Compensation: $115,000 - $130,000+ per year, depending on experience.
Sign-On Bonus: Up to $10,000 sign-on bonus for top-tier candidates (paid after 90 days).

Role Overview: We are looking for an elite, technically skilled Shop Foreman to oversee our in-house repair operations. In this role, you will lead a unionized team of skilled tradespeople, manage the workflow of the shop floor from equipment intake to final billing, and ensure our facility operates safely and produces repairs that meet strict industry standards.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Intake & Quoting: Troubleshoot customer issues over the phone, successfully advise them to bring their equipment into the shop for professional evaluation, and develop accurate repair quotes upon inspection.
  • Team & Union Management: Directly manage a unionized team of machinists, motor winders, and shipping clerks. Act as the primary liaison for union stewards, ensure adherence to collective bargaining agreements, and oversee the training progression of apprentices.
  • Production Scheduling & WIP: Manage Work-In-Progress (WIP) by prioritizing emergency "rush" breakdown jobs alongside standard repairs to meet promised customer delivery dates. Assign incoming equipment and repair tasks to the appropriate technicians.
  • Parts & Inventory: Order required parts upon customer approval. Once repairs are completed, review work orders, accurately add used inventory to the job file, and prepare the final file for billing.
  • Quality Assurance & Final Testing: Review and sign off on all final testing reports (e.g., vibration analysis, winding tests, pump hydro-tests) to ensure repairs meet EASA and OEM industry standards before leaving the shop.
  • Safety & Maintenance: Maintain and oversee shop safety and compliance, including managing OSHA logs. Oversee tooling inventory and manage routine maintenance on heavy shop equipment, including lathes and burn-out ovens.
What We Are Looking For
  • Proven leadership experience, preferably managing unionized workforces in a machining or electrical repair environment.
  • Excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills.
  • High-level communication abilities (both written and in-person) for handling customer quotes, team direction, emails, and billing preparation.
  • $5,000 - $10,000 Sign-On Bonus (paid after 90 days of successful employment).
  • Highly competitive employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match.
  • Paid vacation, sick time, and paid holidays.
  • Stable, multi-generational family business environment that values long-term retention.
