Job summary

Northern Manufacturing is seeking an engineering professional to join our Oak Harbor facility. This role focuses on determining manufacturability, efficiency, and profitability of customer designs, bridging engineering with production on the shop floor.

You will review CAD models, identify fabrication issues, and work with welders, machinists, and operators to turn designs into finished products. This position emphasizes hands-on problem-solving in a dynamic, high-mix environment.

Qualifications

• Strong 3D CAD skills to develop and interpret parts and drawings.
• Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge.
• Practical understanding of laser cutting, forming, welding, and machining.
• Ability to evaluate designs for manufacturability and identify production problems.
• Willingness to work directly with shop-floor employees on-site in Oak Harbor.

Responsibilities

• Review designs for manufacturability and compare drawings/models to fabrication capabilities.
• Develop and modify CAD models and drawings using SolidWorks.
• Recommend practical DFM solutions with customers and teams.
• Solve manufacturing problems including fixture, weld sequencing, and process development.
• Work directly with shop floor staff to troubleshoot and improve production.
