Job summary

Xtreme Services in Goodrich, Michigan is seeking a Welder / Fabricator Apprentice to join our growing industrial and commercial construction team. You will read drawings, lay out, cut, weld, and finish carbon steel and other materials in both shop and field settings.

We prize safety, accuracy, teamwork, and willingness to travel to project sites. The role offers full-time hours, overtime as required, with compensation starting at $20+ per hour based on experience and credentials, plus

Qualifications

• One or more years of structural or industrial welding/fabrication experience preferred, or equivalent demonstrated proficiency.
• Must have valid driver's license.
• Ability to pass hands‑on weld/fabrication interview evaluation and project‑specific qualification tests.
• Ability to interpret weld symbols, fabrication drawings, measurements, tolerances, and basic welding procedure requirements.
• AWS certifications are preferred; current credentials do not replace testing.

Responsibilities

• Read fabrication drawings, weld symbols, bills of material, cut lists, and field dimensions.
• Lay out, cut, bevel, drill, cope, fit, tack, weld, straighten, grind, and finish carbon steel and other approved materials.
• Perform authorized welding processes such as SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW in required positions.
• Set up and safely operate welding machines, torches, saws, grinders, drills, ironworkers, positioners, and material-handling equipment.
• Verify fit-up, joint preparation, alignment, squareness, dimensions, weld size, profile, and visual quality.
• Control distortion and heat input through proper sequencing, fixturing, and technique.
