Job summary

Vanderpool Construction, a family-owned site development company, is seeking a Field Mechanic to diagnose, drive to sites, and repair a diverse fleet of trucks and heavy equipment. You will help keep operations moving safely and efficiently while building long-term career growth with a company that values expertise.

You will work on earthmoving and construction equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and maintain records of repairs and services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Mechanical experience with heavy equipment.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work safely in a construction environment.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
• Ability to perform in stressful situations.
• Lift 75 lb.

Responsibilities

• Respond to equipment breakdowns and complete repairs in the field.
• Maintain and repair heavy construction equipment, trucks, trailers, and related machinery.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and equipment-related issues.
• Identify potential equipment problems before they result in significant downtime.
• Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections on company equipment.
• Help keep equipment operating safely, reliably, and efficiently.
• Communicate with operators, project managers, and supervisors regarding equipment issues and repair needs.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, parts, and service performed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow all company safety procedures and applicable DOT requirements.

Job Preferences

• Class A CDL, or willingness to obtain
• 5+ years of mechanic experience
• Experience with Komatsu, CAT, CASE, Peterbilt, and Kenworth or similar equipment
