Job summary

CP Build is seeking a Project Engineer – Shop Drawings & Submittals to serve as the technical link between project teams, fabricators, and suppliers. You will review shop drawings and submittals, track design changes, and ensure timely material release and production alignment.

You’ll work with project managers and estimators to catch issues on paper, maintain logs, and support on-schedule delivery across federal and private interiors projects in the United States.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a Project Engineer, Project Coordinator, Detailer, or similar role in construction.
• Strong ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, shop drawings, and specifications.
• Working knowledge of construction management software and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Experience with submittal and RFI processes.
• Strong communication and follow-through.
• Experience in commercial construction or interior finishes.
• Experience with millwork, casework, countertops, or flooring.

Responsibilities

• Review shop drawings against contract documents, specifications, and field conditions for accuracy and constructability.
• Identify and track design changes, variations, and field revisions, and confirm their impact on material, cost, and schedule.
• Coordinate with fabricators and suppliers so material is released, produced, and delivered on time.
• Prepare, submit, and track submittals and RFIs through approval.
• Verify quantities and material takeoffs before release to production.
• Flag discrepancies, conflicts, and missing information early and work with Project Managers to resolve them.
• Partner with Project Managers, estimators, and field crews to keep production aligned with the project schedule.
• Track and report submittal and drawing status to Project Managers on a weekly basis.
• Maintain accurate submittal logs, drawing revisions, and project files.
• Follow all company safety, compliance, and quality standards.
• Other duties as assigned
