Job summary

Cutting Edge Modular Inc. seeks a 1099 contractor to generate precise 2D shop drawings for timber components and framing layouts. You will detail connections using Simpson hardware and wood-to-wood joinery, ensuring alignment with structural calculations and building codes.

You will coordinate with foundations, MEP, and steel elements to prevent on-site clashes, and verify wood grades, species, moisture, and hardware tolerances per plans and codes. Flexible work-from-home options are available.

Qualifications

• Understanding of heavy timber framing, mass timber (LVT/Glulam), and wood truss systems.
• Proficiency with timber/BIM software.
• Ability to read architectural and structural blueprints and apply wood engineering standards such as NDS and IBC.

Responsibilities

Looking for a 1099 employee limited term to assist us.

Core Responsibilities

• Detailed Modeling & Drafting: Generate highly accurate 2D shop drawings for structural timber components, framing layouts, and assembly instructions.
• Connection Detailing: Design and detail structural wood connections, including simpson hardware and wood-to-wood joinery.
• Coordination & Clash Detection: Coordinate structural wood components with foundations, MEP systems, and structural steel elements to prevent costly on-site installation conflicts.
• Quality Assurance: Verify all wood grades, species specifications, moisture requirements, and hardware tolerances comply with architectural plans, structural engineering calculations, and building code

Key Qualifications

• Technical Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of heavy timber framing, mass timber (LVT/Glulam), and wood truss systems.
• Software Proficiency: Mastery of specialized timber/BIM software
• Blueprints & Codes: Strong ability to read architectural/structural blueprints and apply relevant wood engineering standards (e.g., NDS guidelines, IBC).
