Job summary

Cutting Edge Modular Inc. seeks an experienced timber and mass timber detailing professional for a limited-term 1099 engagement.

You will produce precise 2D shop drawings, detail wood connections, and coordinate with foundations, MEP, and structural steel to ensure clash-free installation. The role requires strong knowledge of heavy timber framing, mass timber systems, and the ability to read architectural/structural drawings and apply relevant wood engineering standards.

Qualifications

• Experience with heavy timber framing and mass timber systems.
• Ability to read blueprints and apply wood engineering standards.
• Familiarity with building codes and structural guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Generate accurate 2D shop drawings for structural timber components.
• Design and detail structural wood connections, including Simpson hardware.
• Coordinate with foundations, MEP systems, and steel to prevent on-site conflicts.
• Verify wood grades, species, moisture, and hardware tolerances with plans and codes.

Core Responsibilities

• Detailed Modeling & Drafting: Generate highly accurate 2D shop drawings for structural timber components, framing layouts, and assembly instructions.
• Connection Detailing: Design and detail structural wood connections, including simpson hardware and wood-to-wood joinery.
• Coordination & Clash Detection: Coordinate structural wood components with foundations, MEP systems, and structural steel elements to prevent costly on-site installation conflicts.
• Quality Assurance: Verify all wood grades, species specifications, moisture requirements, and hardware tolerances comply with architectural plans, structural engineering calculations, and building code

Key Qualifications

• Technical Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of heavy timber framing, mass timber (LVT/Glulam), and wood truss systems.
• Software Proficiency: Mastery of specialized timber/BIM software
• Blueprints & Codes: Strong ability to read architectural/structural blueprints and apply relevant wood engineering standards (e.g., NDS guidelines, IBC).
