Job summary

CraneWorks in St. Louis, MO is seeking a Shop Crane Technician to inspect, diagnose, repair and maintain various crane equipment, including mobile cranes. This role reports to the Service Manager in the Service department and is a union, hourly non-exempt position.

Ideal candidates have at least 3 years of mobile crane experience with electrical and hydraulic knowledge, and proficiency with manuals, drawings, and OEM specifications. Travel and overtime may be required to support customer needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years as mobile crane mechanic/technician.
• Knowledge of CANBUS, PAT, EKS, ECOS, LICCON and Greer systems.
• Ability to read manuals, blueprints and technical drawings.
• Strong safety and compliance with OEM specs.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, repair and maintain crane equipment.
• Operate and inspect cranes to diagnose defects.
• Test repaired equipment to OEM specifications.
• Fill out reports, timesheets and work orders accurately.
• Travel periodically for field technician duties; overtime/weekends as needed.

Job Summary:

All Mechanics are responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair and maintenance of various crane equipment including mobile cranes (All Terrain, Rough Terrain, Crawler Cranes, Boom Trucks, knuckle booms, bucket trucks, etc.). Mechanic experience preferred with electrical and hydraulics.

Skills aptitude test will be required

KeyResponsibilities:

• A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Mobile Crane Mechanic/Technician that can operate and inspect cranes in order to diagnose defects.


• Demonstrates working knowledge of CANBUS, PAT, EKS, ECOS, LICCON, and Greer systems.


• Examines parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges


• Reads and understands operating manuals, parts manuals, blueprints and technical drawings


• Tests mechanical, electronic, electrical and hydraulic products and equipment after repair or modification to ensure proper operation and compliance with OEM specifications


• Prepares for jobs by checking parts and drawings for accuracy and completeness


• Capable of accomplishing tasks independently without direct supervision


• Maintain conformity to safety requirements, manufacturer procedures, and other regulations


• Properly fills out working reports, hour’s reports, time sheets, hour’s overviews, work orders, and expense reports


• Exceptional customer service and communication skills


• Ability to work overtime as well as on weekends is a plus. Travel is required periodically for 1 to 4-day intervals for field techs. Our shop technicians work anywhere from 40 to 50 hours a week depending on immediate needs and our field technicians work anywhere from 40 to 80 hours a week depending on customer needs.


• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record required for field technician positions

Preferred Qualifications:

History of working with different forms of mobile crane equipment, specifically Grove RT and TMS Cranes; Grove GMK European Cranes; Manitowoc, Liebherr, Terex, Palfinger, IMT, Cormach, National, Demag, Manitex, etc.
