JOB DESCRIPTION
MGX Shop Crane Technicians are responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of various crane equipment including mobile cranes and boom trucks.
This position will be located at the Aiken, SC branch for MGX Equipment Services and reports to the Branch Manager.
Bonuses & Programs
- $4,500 sign-on bonus, payable after 90 days continuous service.
- Tool Reimbursement Program of up to $1,500 per calendar year.
Essential Job Functions
- Operate and inspect cranes to diagnose defects.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of CANBUS, PAT, EKS, ECOS, and MEGA-TRACK system.
- Examine parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges.
- Read, understand, and interpret operating manuals, parts manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Test mechanical, electronic, electrical, and hydraulic products and equipment after repair or modification to ensure proper operation and compliance with OEM specifications.
- Weld as needed (if required).
- Prepare for jobs by checking parts and drawings for accuracy and completeness.
- Accomplish tasks independently without direct supervision.
- Perform thorough and accurate annual inspections.
- Maintain conformity to safety requirements and other regulations.
- Properly fill out working reports, hour’s reports, time sheets, hour’s overviews, and expense reports.
- Show good customer service and communication skills.
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Mechanic/Technician.
- Experience with mobile crane equipment, specifically Grove RT and TMS Cranes; Grove GMK European Cranes; Manitowoc EPIC and/or Traditional Cranes; National Boom Trucks; Manitex Boom Trucks and Cranes is a strong plus.
- Sets a positive example in punctuality and professional demeanor by respectful communication with all levels of staff, keeping work areas clean & orderly and promoting safety regulations and company programs.
- Welding experience preferred.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record preferred.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
- Required to purchase full set of hand tools up to 1.5 inches.
- Manufacture approved training/certifications preferred.
- Must be able to work overtime and on weekends as required.

Working Conditions
- Full-time position with typical working hours between 7:00 am and 4:00 pm; overtime and weekend work may be required.
- Physical demands include exposure to extreme temperatures and weather conditions, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, loud noises, and tasks such as sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, frequent lifting and moving up to 40 pounds. Vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
