Job summary

Ruan in Salem, VA is seeking a hands-on maintenance supervisor to coordinate the fleet workshop, oversee technicians, and resolve service and scheduling issues. You will manage inventory, order parts, and assist the Service Manager in shop operations.

This full-time onsite role requires a High School Diploma or GED, ASE certification preferred, 3-5 years fleet maintenance, and leadership experience. DOT compliance, strong communication, and ability to mentor staff are essential.

Job description

Coordinates the workflow and oversees the work of the technicians in the maintenance shop. Identifies and resolves service repair and scheduling problems. Manages inventory levels and orders parts. Assists Service Manager in running the shop.

Responsibilities

• Assists Service Manager in parts inventory management


• Originates and approves fuel tickets, work orders, time cards and other required information in MAXIMO


• Diagnoses mechanical problems using charts, technical manuals and experience


• Determines need for major repairs and arranges for outside maintenance when needed


• Conducts mechanic orientation and training process


• Schedules work for mechanics


• Inspects and verifies that proper maintenance work has been completed within the approved time standards


• Assists Service Manager with employee relations functions (performance reviews, complaints and grievances, identifying inappropriate behavior or violations, and disciplining employees)


• Maintains attendance records


• Monitors SMART program


• Updates and maintains Operating Statistics


• Considers and complies with all regulations regarding the transporting and disposing of hazardous materials

Requirements

This is a full time position working onsite in Salem, VA.

Job Requirements/Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma/GED; Prefer Associate, Vocational or Technical Degree with current status of ASE Certified Technician

Experience: 3-5 years of fleet maintenance experience and previous mechanic experience is required in addition to minimum of one year experience as a lead technician or leadership role.

The actual pay rate will depend on the person's qualifications and experience.
