Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is seeking qualified welders with 1+ years of hands-on welding experience.

Newport News Shipbuilding performs structural and pipe welds on aircraft carriers and submarines, using SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW across multiple shifts. You will train at the Welding School and support production in a demanding marine environment.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have at least one year of Welding experience.
• Must be able to take measurements or be willing to learn.
• Must be able to work assigned shift as production needs.
• Must be able to lift 40 lbs and must take and pass a respirator fit test.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural and/or pipe welds in all phases of ship construction.
• Welders perform tack, fillet, and full penetration welding on steel foundations and joints using SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW.
