Job summary

Vigor Marine Group is seeking an experienced Fitter Welder for Journey Main 1 Swing Shift in Portland, OR. The role involves welding on vessels, reading blueprints, and maintaining strict safety and quality standards.

Ideal candidates will have 5–10 years of welding experience, a High School diploma or GED, and relevant certifications (11018 cert, fire watch, HAZWOPER). This is a full-time, on-site position with an hourly rate of $41.27.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• 5-10 years relevant work experience.
• Proven skills, work history and/or applicable education will be considered in lieu of work experience.
• Welder - Certifiable in 11018, dual shield and SMAW.
• Four-hour fire watch certification.
• HAZWOPER - First Responder Awareness Level.

Responsibilities

• Complies with craft and shipyard safety and environmental measures.
• Works in the shop applying shipboard skills.
• Reads ship specifications, work orders and drawings to weld on vessels.
• Researches and suggests CFRs for quality assurance.
• Performs burning and uses scarfing tip for cleanup, bevel parts.
• Performs Arc welding - SMAW, FCAW, GMAW.
• Carbon arc gouging for weld prep and cleanup.
• Cuts, bevels and flushes steel with a Gas/Oxy burning torch.
• Prepares surfaces by grinding and chipping.
• Comprehends marine blueprints and fabricates from them.
