Job summary

Vigor Marine Group in Seattle is seeking a skilled sheet metal worker/welder to join our shipyard team. You will remove duct work and fittings, fabricate sheet metal components, and install duct systems aboard vessels and in shipyard facilities, reading blueprints and estimating dimensions, while maintaining safety and quality on every project.

The role requires proficiency with stick and MIG welding, use of shop equipment, and comfort working at height and in confined spaces.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 2 years relevant shipyard experience.
• Proven skills, work history and/or applicable education may offset experience.

Responsibilities

• Complies with craft and shipyard safety and environmental measures.
• Removes duct work and fittings and reinstalls by welding and fitting techniques.
• Fabricates basic sheet metal projects per industrial customer specs.
• Reads blueprints and uses tape measures for layout and fabrication.
• Installs duct work, galley equipment, ceiling panels, etc.
• Performs basic welding – stick and MIG.
