Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO seeks an on-site Health & Safety Inspector in Jacksonville, FL to provide guidance, enforce regulations, and support the workforce with regular on-site presence.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED with related experience or an AS degree in EHS, plus a minimum of three years as a Safety Inspector and knowledge of OSHA 1915/1910. Strong communication and field inspection skills are essential.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED with 4 years related experience or AS degree.
• Knowledge of OSHA 1915 and 1910.
• Minimum of 3 years as Safety Inspector.
• Minimum 3 years safety enforcement in industrial/construct environments.
• Continuing education toward a Professional Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.

Responsibilities

• Conduct shipboard safety inspections for on- and off-site vessels daily.
• Perform safety walks of facility grounds to ensure hazards are controlled.
• Inspect fire extinguishers, eye wash stations and ear plug stations.
• Maintain MSDS/SDS sheets for contract availability.
• Review literature to stay current on OSHA standards and regulations.
• Communicate with department/ship manager regularly.
