Job summary

Colonna’s Shipyard in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Quality Project Manager to plan, direct, and coordinate quality inspections and related activities within the Quality Program. You will monitor inspectors and trades personnel to achieve first-time quality and report issues to management.

The role requires collaboration with Superintendents, Production Teams, and Safety to develop metrics, schedule quality personnel, and maintain documentation and software used to track quality.

Qualifications

• Must have a bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, administrative, or related field and at least five (5) years of work experience in project management or administrative services.
• Additional 4 years of related experience can be considered in lieu of degree.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and command of various computer programs and database management.

Responsibilities

• Develop the inspector schedule to support assigned area (fabrication or shipyard).
• Manage the tracking, compiling, and submitting of data including documenting concerns or disputes/issues.
• Recognize potential problems early, recommend solutions, and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Superintendents and Production Teams to develop metrics and reports.
• Monitor performance and report issues; oversee on-site deck-plate/fabrication floor activities.
• Create, maintain, and analyze process improvements for better business operations.
