Job summary

Gulf Marine Repair Corporation in Tampa, FL seeks a full-time Inside Manual Machinist. The role involves assembling, installing, modifying, and repairing ship machinery and systems, using lathes, milling machines, shapers and grinders to meet manufacturer specs.

You will set up, service, repair, align, and test machines with precision, and review procedures to improve setup and production efficiency. Shipyard experience is a plus; equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• 3 years machining experience preferred.
• General knowledge about ships and machinery.
• Ability to read micrometers with tight tolerances.
• Ability to read and work from blueprints.
• Ability to run inside shop equipment accurately and timely.
• Ability to prepare written mechanical evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, modify and repair ship machinery and systems.
• Set up, service, repair, align and test machines on mechanical and electro-mechanical bases.
• Use lathes, milling machines, shapers and grinders to repair parts to specifications.
• Evaluate procedures and recommend efficiency improvements for setup and production.
