Job summary

Hanwha Philly Shipyard is seeking an experienced Buyer to support procurement for ship production, handling requisitions, RFQs, bid analyses and purchase orders. The role requires SAP proficiency, cost negotiation, and supplier performance management to ensure on-time, on-budget deliveries.

The position emphasizes cross-functional collaboration with Production and Engineering to meet milestones and optimize material flow.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or Art degree preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of Purchasing experience in Shipbuilding industries & Government contracting is a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Process Purchase Requisitions, Issue RFQs, develop bid analyses, conduct negotiations and issue Purchase Orders.
• Use SAP to support purchasing process.
• Develop successful negotiation strategies for purchase of material, equipment and services for ship production and yard operations.
• Monitor vendor performance to make sure all orders arrive on time and within budget.
• Coordinate and manage General Stock Items (GSI) list and domestic sourcing.
• Work with Material Control and Production to input Material Problem Report (MPR) and seek resolution.
• Document project shipments and maintains schedule changes.
• Manage Material Supply Agreement with project procurement partner.
• Maintain log of monthly material receipt and commercial invoices.
