Job summary

Group CBS in Seymour, CT is seeking a motivated Shipping & Receiving Supervisor to oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring inbound and outbound shipments are processed accurately, safely, and on time. Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, or manufacturing.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and WMS/ERP systems.
• Ability to read and interpret shipping documents and packing lists.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and 5S standards.

Responsibilities

• Verify shipments against POs, bills of lading, and packing slips.
• Inspect incoming materials for damage and compliance.
• Prepare shipping documents, manifests, and labels.
• Schedule pickups with carriers and couriers.
• Lead, train, and mentor a small team of associates.
• Conduct pre-shift meetings and monitor performance.
• Ensure DOT/OSHA compliance and maintain 5S compliant workspace.
• Report discrepancies and damaged goods to management.

Job description

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Shipping & Receiving Supervisor to join our team. In this supervisory role, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our shipping and receiving department, ensuring that all inbound and outbound shipments are processed accurately, safely, and on time.

Location: Seymour, CT, US. Position Type: Full-Time/Regular.

Shipping & Receiving Operations

• Supervise and coordinate all inbound and outbound shipments, including raw materials, finished goods, and equipment
• Verify accuracy of shipments against purchase orders, bills of lading, and packing slips
• Inspect incoming materials for damage, quality, and compliance with order specifications
• Prepare shipping documents, manifests, and labels in accordance with carrier requirements
• Schedule pickups and deliveries with our truck, freight carriers and couriers

Team Leadership

• Lead, train, and mentor a small team of shipping/receiving associates
• Assign daily tasks and monitor team performance to meet throughput and accuracy targets
• Conduct daily pre-shift meetings to communicate priorities, safety updates, and goals
• Assist in onboarding new team members and provide ongoing coaching
• Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and company safety regulations at all times
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with 5S standards
• Report discrepancies, damaged goods, and near-misses to management promptly

Required Skills

• 1–2 years of experience in a shipping, receiving, warehouse, or manufacturing environment
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and/or WMS/ERP systems
• Ability to read and interpret shipping documents, bills of lading, and packing lists
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods
• Valid forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification upon hire

Required Experience

• Experience with inventory management software (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar)
• Previous experience in a supervisory or lead role
• Familiarity with DOT/OSHA regulations and hazmat shipping requirements
• Knowledge of Lean or 5S manufacturing principles
