Job Title: Shipping Specialist

Position Summary
The Shipping Specialist plays a key role in ensuring customer orders are accurately prepared, safely packaged, and shipped on time. This hands‑on position is responsible for picking, packing, labeling, preparing shipping documentation, and coordinating shipments with carriers. The ideal candidate is organized, detail‑oriented, and computer proficient, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. They take pride in maintaining an efficient shipping operation while contributing to continuous improvement and delivering excellent service to our customers.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to)
- Pick, pack, label, and prepare customer orders for shipment with a high level of accuracy per each order received.
- Process shipments using UPS, FedEx, LTL, and other freight carriers.
- Prepare Bills of Lading, customs documentation, and other required shipping paperwork.
- Verify product, quantities, colors, and labels prior to shipment to ensure order accuracy.
- Safely operate a forklift to move, stage, and load products for shipment.
- Wrap, palletize, and secure outgoing shipments for safe transportation.
- Coordinate daily shipments and communicate with carriers regarding pickups, routing, and delivery schedules.
- Provide freight quotes and shipping options to the office and customer service team as needed.
- Process return authorizations and assist with returned shipments.
- Learn and effectively use customer shipping and routing portals to submit shipment notifications, schedule deliveries, and comply with customer‑specific routing requirements.
- Enter shipment information and customer notifications into required systems.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and ensure documentation is complete.
- Assist with inventory organization and maintain a clean, safe, and organized shipping area.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3–5 years of hands‑on shipping and logistics experience in a warehouse, distribution, or manufacturing environment.
- Advanced computer skills with the ability to quickly learn and navigate multiple software systems, including Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office.
- Previous shipping, warehouse, manufacturing, or logistics experience preferred.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to quickly learn and navigate shipping software, carrier systems, and customer routing portals.
- Experience with UPS, FedEx, LTL, and freight shipping processes is preferred.
- Forklift certification
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain a high level of order accuracy.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt to changing business needs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive movements throughout the workday.
- Ability to safely operate material handling equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Ability to work in a warehouse/manufacturing environment with varying temperatures.
