This position is a temporary vacancy covering for a Shipping & Receiving Worker on leave. It is expected to end when the current employee returns to work.

Reports to: Distribution Center Manager

Job Responsibilities

• Receive and log all incoming orders and dry goods
• Operate equipment like electric pallet jacks or forklifts
• Break down products into pallets and tag for storage
• Store items properly in designated areas
• Select and transport bulk items for distribution
• Load trucks for delivery following the Distribution Center plan
• Inspect products for quality and temperature standards
• Track vendor and purchasing dates
• Deliver food and non-food items as needed
• Maintain sanitation of bins and trucks
• Ensure product quality and safety standards are met
• Perform quality control checks and take corrective actions as necessary
• Work effectively in a team environment
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas and vehicles
• Follow all safety standards including HACCP and OSHA
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; basic computer skills
• Valid Massachusetts driver’s license with a good record
• Forklift license/certification
• Food Handler Certification
• Proficiency in English (written and verbal)
• 2-5 years warehouse experience
• Knowledge of shipping and receiving practices
• Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
• Basic math skills
• Flexibility, multi-tasking ability, and high productivity
• Ability to work collaboratively
• Physical ability to walk, stand, reach, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in refrigerated environments

Preferred Qualifications

• CDL License
• Serv-Safe Certification
• Over 5 years warehouse experience
• Experience with hydraulic lift equipment
• Knowledge of inventory software
• Familiarity with warehousing practices
• Good organizational skills
• Spanish language skills

Terms

Grade 3, Step 1. City of Boston residency required. Bargaining Unit: AFSCME. Schedule: 12 months, 6:00 am - 2:00 pm, subject to change. May include working during school closings.
