Job summary

Altorfer Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Shipping/Receiving Specialist in Illinois to coordinate receipt, inspection, storage, and shipment of materials.

You will ensure inventory accuracy, process shipping docs, and safely operate material handling equipment while collaborating with carriers and internal teams to meet delivery timelines. The role requires forklift operation, basic ERP system experience, and strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1-3 years in shipping, receiving, warehouse, logistics, or material handling preferred.
• Ability to operate forklifts and material handling equipment safely.
• Basic computer skills and experience with inventory management/ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Receive incoming shipments and verify quantities against packing slips and purchase orders.
• Inspect materials and products for damage, accuracy, and quality.
• Unload, move, store, and stage materials using forklifts and other material handling equipment.
• Prepare, package, and ship outbound orders according to company and customer requirements.
• Create and maintain shipping and receiving documentation.
• Enter inventory transactions into warehouse or ERP systems.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with cycle counts and physical inventories.
• Coordinate with carriers, suppliers, and internal departments regarding shipments and deliveries.
• Ensure materials are properly labeled, stored, and organized.
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, orderly work environment.
• Report shipping discrepancies, damaged goods, or inventory issues to supervision.
• Support production and operations teams by ensuring timely material availability.
