Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Warehouse Associate to operate electric forklifts and manage shipping/receiving tasks. You will prepare bills of lading, update shipping databases, and ensure accurate receiving records.

The role requires reading comprehension of safety rules, GMPs, and HACCP, plus basic math for weights and inventory. Responsibilities include handling materials on pallets, recording discrepancies, and maintaining clean work areas.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; 2–4 years experience and/or training.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting safety rules, GMPs, HACCP and procedures.
• Strong mathematical ability for weights, measures, and inventory counts.
• Experience with MS Outlook and common software for inventory and orders.

Responsibilities

• Prepares bills of lading for shipments and records items loaded.
• Updates the shipping database and tracks documentation.
• Notifies supervisor of discrepancies per SOPs and HACCP.
• Checks and counts items on receipt and updates records.
• Weighs materials and records weight on forms as required.
• Receives materials and equipment and inventories accordingly.
• Operates Powered Industrial Truck to move loads.
• Positions forks and transports pallets to designated areas.
• Unloads, stacks, loads materials onto pallets or trucks.
• Recharges batteries and maintains equipment.
• Covers breaks for stack-off position as needed.
• Other duties may be assigned.
• Performs daily/weekly/monthly inventory counts.
• Moves materials on shipping dock with hand truck.
• Cleans areas such as cooler, freezer, dock as required.
