Job summary

Mid-States Bolt & Screw in Burton, MI seeks a Shipping/Receiving Clerk to verify, document, and process shipments, prepare items for stocking or shipment, and maintain accurate records. The role requires attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Responsibilities include receiving and inspecting shipments, maintaining receiving and inventory records, preparing shipping documents, and coordinating with carriers. A forklift may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• At least 1 year of warehouse experience; 2 years of warehouse experience preferred.
• Knowledge of shipping and receiving processes and inventory control principles.
• Ability to accurately measure, weigh, count, identify, and verify products and materials.
• Basic computer skills and ability to navigate computer systems and enter, access, and retrieve data.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under deadlines.
• Ability to communicate effectively by phone, in person, and in writing.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical work throughout the shift.
• Ability to drive forklift.

Responsibilities

• Examine incoming shipments and compare contents with orders, invoices, or other records to verify accuracy.
• Inspect merchandise or material for damage, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications.
• Record incoming merchandise and maintain accurate receiving and inventory records.
• Prepare shipping documents, including bills of lading and shipping orders, as required.
• Determine appropriate shipping methods using established shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
• Coordinate special shipping instructions and communicate with carrier representatives regarding shipping and delivery arrangements.
• Communicate with internal departments, customers, carriers, and other representatives regarding shipping and receiving activities.
