Job summary

Skilled Manufacturing Inc is seeking a Shipping/Receiving Specialist in Traverse City, MI. You will load/unload trucks, position inventory, and ensure safe handling of materials while following all safety and quality policies.

The role requires reading and following detailed instructions, strong attention to accuracy, and proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. You must be able to multi-task and maintain excellent attendance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Excellent attendance record is expected.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or the ability to learn is preferred.
• Ability to work with hands and maintain eye/hand coordination.
• Authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
• Clean manufacturing facility.
• Standing/walking 90% of shift.
• Safety gear such as safety glasses is required at all times.
• Lifting up to 40 lbs regularly.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload trucks.
• Position inventory and handle material safely and correctly.
• Data collection and analysis.
• Adhere to training, quality, compliance, and safety policies and procedures.
• Keep management informed of problems or potential quality issues.
• Move material/product throughout the shop to the next location.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.
• Count and prepare kits for production.

Shipping/Receiving Specialist

• Load and unload trucks
• Position inventory and handle material safely and correctly
• Data collection & analysis
• Compliant with all training, quality, compliance, and safety policies, practices, and procedures
• Keeps management aware of any problems or potential problems in the quality of the product
• Moving material/product throughout the shop to the next location
• All other responsibilities assigned by the Manager
• Counting and preparing kits for production

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Work independently with the ability to prioritize work tasks
• The ability to understand and carry out detailed oral and written instructions
• Ability to read and understand work instructions, documents, correspondence, and memos
• Effective communication skills, which include verbal and written in English
• Ability to perform basic mathematical functions
• Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Must be able to multi-task, have a positive attitude, and handle pressure under deadlines in a professional manner
• Must have excellent attendance and be dependable
• The ability to obtain a Hi-Lo license
