Job summary

MAZZELLA in Winston-Salem, NC, seeks a Shipping/Receiving Lead to supervise Clerks and ensure accuracy in all customer orders shipped and received in the Distribution Center. You will prepare and package products for shipment, handle paperwork, palletize, weigh, label, and stage orders for pickup via LTL and ground.

The role requires coordinating production schedules with various departments, maintaining ship dates and inventory counts, and training staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; some college experience preferred.
• Front-line supervisor potential with Shipping/Receiving Clerks
• Ability to operate reach truck and order picker is preferred

Responsibilities

• Monitor Shipping/Receiving Clerks to ensure accuracy of customer orders shipped and received.
• Prepare and package products for shipment; process paperwork; palletize, weigh, label and stage orders for pickup.
• Review production requirements and assign work; plan and schedule tasks across departments to meet ship dates.
• Ensure 100% accuracy of loads received and shipped; communicate across shifts for on-time shipments.
• Perform inventory cycle counts; train and cross-train staff; guide employees.
• Lead and motivate team; enforce QA standards and safety guidelines; keep area clean and equipment maintained.
• Provide recommendations on personnel issues to Coordinators/DC Manager; handle other duties as assigned.

Description

The Shipping/Receiving Lead is responsible for monitoring Shipping/Receiving Clerks to ensure accuracy of all customer orders shipped and received into the Distribution Center. Prepares and packages products for shipment to internal and external customers. This includes processing paperwork, palletizing, weighing, labeling, and staging orders for pickup by LTL and Ground orders.

• Review production requirements of department with Shipping/Receiving Coordinator to determine production schedule and assign work to employees
• Plan, coordinate, and schedule tasks with all departments to ensure production schedules, ship dates, and inventory counts are maintained
• Ensure 100% accuracy of all loads received in and shipped out throughout the shift
• Communicate with departments personnel throughout the shift to ensure production schedules are being followed and shipments are on time
• Perform Inventory Cycle Counts as required
• Utilize daily opportunities to train, cross train, and guide employees
• Lead and Motivate all employees to achieve daily tasks and improve productivity
• Monitor and enforce adherence to all company principles, policies, procedures, and work instructions in accordance with Company Quality Assurance Standards
• Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition; follow all Safety Guideline
• Assure equipment is utilized in accordance with company policy and procedures
• Set up, operate, adjust, and maintain production machines and equipment
• Provide recommendations to Coordinators and Distribution Center Manager for personnel related issues, i.e., hiring, disciplinary actions, and employee relations
• Other duties and responsibilities assigned by Coordinators and or Distribution Center Manager

Requirements

Education:

• A high school diploma or GED is required; some college experience preferred.

Experience & Skills:

• Ability to Operate a Reach Truck and Order Picker Preferred
• Must be able to lift or pull a minimum of 50 pounds
• Requires solid written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
• Conceptual and planning skills are required
• Overall PC literacy (Microsoft Office) are required
• Must be detail oriented, self-motivated, and disciplined with the ability to change work priorities frequently
• Must successfully complete a criminal background check, physical, drug screen and E-verify
