Job summary

MARSHALLTOWN is seeking a Working Group Lead to supervise shipping, receiving, and general warehouse operations in Kansas City, KS. The role requires stepping in for the supervisor, opening the facility, and ensuring safe, efficient operations.

Ideal candidates have 1 year in leadership, 2 years in warehouse/shipping, strong communication skills, and the ability to multitask. Overtime may be required based on business needs.

Qualifications

• 1 year of leadership/trainer experience.
• 2 years of warehouse experience.
• 2 years of shipping/outbound logistics experience preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Good math skills.
• Effective decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
• Basic administrative computer proficiency, including email.
• Excellent attendance.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership coverage across shipping, receiving, and general warehouse operations as needed to support workflow, staffing gaps, or special projects.
• Directs daily workflow and drives team productivity within the shipping department.
• Staffs high-priority areas based on outbound schedules, order volume, and operational needs.
• Opens the facility and ensures a safe, efficient start-up when the Supervisor is not present.
• Ensures safe work practices and reinforces all safety expectations.
• Trains and cross-trains new and existing employees.
• Performs regular quality checks for outbound accuracy, packaging, labeling, and documentation.
• Verifies shipping orders against system data for correct product, quantities, and destinations.
• Coordinates dock activities, staging, and carrier pickups for on-time shipments.
• Loads, moves, and stages materials using PIT safely and efficiently.
• Supports receiving functions as needed (unloading, material movement, inventory verification).
• Performs other duties and project work, including cross-department support.
