Job summary

Dahl Consulting is seeking a detail-oriented Shipping & Receiving Clerk to support warehouse and logistics operations in a fast-paced distribution environment in Chicago, IL. This contract role spans 3 months and offers exposure to inbound and outbound shipments, inventory tracking, and documentation management.

You will collaborate with customer service, logistics, and planning teams to ensure accuracy in orders and timely resolution of delivery issues, using MS Office and a WMS where available.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in shipping and receiving within a warehouse or distribution environment.
• Experience performing clerical or administrative support duties.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
• Knowledge of shipping and receiving processes and documentation.
• Experience maintaining inventory accuracy and shipment records.
• Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively across departments.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate logistics documentation for inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring records are properly filed, tracked, and accessible.
• Coordinate and process customer shipments, including small parcel preparation and shipment scheduling.
• Investigate and resolve shipping discrepancies in collaboration with Customer Service and other internal departments.
• Monitor non-deliveries and proactively follow up to ensure timely resolution and escalation when necessary.
• Communicate shipping schedule changes to logistics and planning teams.
• Support inventory accuracy through proper shipment and receiving procedures.
• Assist with warehouse administrative and clerical functions as needed.
• Perform additional duties to support daily business operations.
