Job summary

A defense contractor is seeking a Shipping & Receiving Clerk in Newport, RI, to manage the intake and shipping of critical defense assets. This role is integral for quality control, ensuring that incoming and outgoing materials meet military specifications. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, 1+ years of experience in shipping or receiving, and the ability to lift 50 lbs. Qualifications

• Experience with packaging and kitting (DoD PPP&M experience is a major plus).
• U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain DoD CAC/Security Clearance.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to spot discrepancies on shipping manifests.
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
• US Citizenship with the ability to obtain DoD CAC/Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Receive incoming freight and perform inspections on part numbers and quantities.
• Route and process materials utilizing OSP tools.
• Kit and assemble materials for shipment following military specifications.
• Kit and assemble materials for shipment, ensuring hazardous materials and sensitive items meet MIL specs.
• Generate and affix proper shipping labels, bar codes, and RFID tags.

Job description

Makwa Global is looking for an efficient Shipping & Receiving Clerk to manage the intake and out-processing of critical defense assets at NUWCDIVNPT. You will be the first line of defense for quality control on incoming freight and the final check for materials being shipped out to naval detachments worldwide.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Receive incoming freight, perform physical "kick-and-count" inspections, and verify part numbers, quantities, and condition codes against shipping manifests.
• Route and process materials utilizing the One Supply Process (OSP) suite of tools.
• Perform Packaging, Handling, Storage, and Transportation (PHS&T) and Preservation, Packaging, Packing, and Marking (PPP&M) duties in accordance with MIL-STD-2073.
• Kit and assemble materials for shipment, ensuring hazardous materials (HAZMAT) and sensitive items are packaged to military specifications.
• Generate and affix proper shipping labels, bar codes, and RFID tags.
