Description

SBM Management is looking to hire a Shipping and Receiving Clerk to join their team. This position verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment. Responsibilities include comparing identifying information, counting, weighing, or measuring items, and verifying information against bills of lading, invoices, or purchase orders.

Responsibilities
  • Verify accuracy of shipments by counting, weighing, or measuring items and comparing size, weight, description, and code numbers with documentation; record discrepancies or damages.
  • Open crates and containers using hand tools, inspect shipments for damage or defects.
  • Drive truck for pick-up and delivery, obtain signatures for supplies.
  • Route shipments to appropriate departments, prepare items for shipment with suitable containers and packaging.
  • Determine most economical shipping methods, affix labels, and prepare bills of lading.
  • Assemble containers, post weights and shipping charges, and affix postage.
  • Ensure outgoing shipments meet specifications, provide return info if needed, and prepare items for return if damaged.
  • Move inventory manually and using mechanical equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Maintain inventory records, perform physical counts, and coordinate with purchasing for supplies.
  • Drive trucks for deliveries, load/unload trucks, and detect vehicle repairs needed.
  • Support other Facilities Department areas, organize shipping/receiving areas.
  • Make decisions, be technology proficient, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Reliability, responsiveness, and customer service skills are essential.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience/training.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and Word, valid Driver's License (Class B), no violations.
  • At least 5 years in a shipping/receiving environment, experience with USPS, UPS, FedEx preferred.
  • Ability to operate light trucks, hand tools, mechanical equipment, knowledge of safety procedures.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs, respirator use a plus.
Additional Details

Shift: 9:00 pm - 6:00 am (weekends required)

Compensation: $20.00 - $21.00/hour
