Ashton North LLC in Harlan, IA is seeking a Shipping & Receiving Associate responsible for verifying outgoing shipments, preparing items, and maintaining records to ensure accuracy and on-time delivery.

Duties include counting, weighing, labeling, selecting containers, operating a forklift or hand-truck, reviewing bills of lading, and performing clerical data entry. Candidates should have 1-2 years shipping/receiving experience and be willing to train on forklift and crane as needed.

Qualifications

1-2 years of hands-on shipping and receiving experience.
Forklift experience a plus, will train
Overhead crane experience a plus, will train
Experience with measurement devices a must
Crating or carpentry experience a plus, will train
UPS Worldship experience a plus
Export paperwork experience a plus
Understanding SDS/Hazcom shipping regulations

Responsibilities

Verify and keep records on outgoing shipments and prepare items for shipment.
Compare identifying information and counts against bills of lading, invoices, or orders.
Determine the method of shipment.
Affix shipping labels on cartons or stencil shipping information.
Assemble containers or select preassembled containers.
Insert items into containers.
Seal containers and affix identifying information and shipping instructions.
Post weights and shipping charges, and affix postage.
Inspect shipments to meet specifications and ensure accuracy.
Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
Operate forklift or hand-truck to move shipments.
Study shipping notices to determine priorities and methods.
Count, weigh, measure, or examine packaging for conformity.
Compare packed items with customer orders and data.
Perform clerical tasks such as data entry and filing.
Deliver incoming goods to respective departments.

Job Summary of the Shipping & Receiving Associate:

The Shipping & Receiving Associate will verify and keeps records on outgoing shipments and prepare items for shipment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities of the Shipping & Receiving Associate:

Compares identifying information and counts weighs, or measures items of outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
Determines the method of shipment.
Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.
Insert items into containers.
Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape.
Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
Maintains the inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
Operates tier lift truck or uses hand-truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping schedules.
Inspect shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
Counts, weighs, measures, or examines packaging and contents for conformance to company specifications.
Compares items packed with customer's orders and other identifying data.
Performs clerical tasks such as computer data entry, typing correspondence, and keeping files.
Delivers incoming goods to respective departments.
