Sora Resource Group is seeking a Shipping & Receiving Associate in Harlan, Iowa. The role focuses on verifying outgoing shipments, preparing items for shipment, and maintaining shipping records.

The position requires hands-on shipping experience and may involve equipment operation and basic clerical tasks. Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of shipping experience, knowledge of measurement devices, and the ability to follow SDS/HazCom regulations.

Qualifications

1–2 years of hands-on shipping and receiving experience.
Forklift experience is a plus; training provided.
Overhead crane experience is a plus; training provided.
Experience with measurement devices is required.
Crating or carpentry experience is a plus; training provided.
Familiarity with SDS/HazCom shipping regulations.

Responsibilities

Verify and keep records on outgoing shipments and prepare items for shipment.
Determine method of shipment and affix shipping labels on cartons.
Inspect shipments to ensure they meet specifications and ship on schedule.
Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
Operate equipment to move shipments and deliver to storage areas.
Perform clerical tasks such as data entry and filing.

Job Title: Shipping & Receiving Associate

Location: Harlan, Iowa

Salary: $18-22/hour

Job Summary of the Shipping & Receiving Associate:

The Shipping & Receiving Associate will verify and keeps records on outgoing shipments and prepare items for shipment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities of the Shipping & Receiving Associate:

Compares identifying information and counts weighs, or measures items of outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
Determines the method of shipment.
Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.
Insert items into containers.
Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape.
Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
Maintains the inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
Operates tier lift truck or uses hand-truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping schedules.
Inspect shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
Counts, weighs, measures, or examines packaging and contents for conformance to company specifications.
Compares items packed with customer's orders and other identifying data.
Performs clerical tasks such as computer data entry, typing correspondence, and keeping files.
Delivers incoming goods to respective departments.
