Job summary

Precision Castparts is seeking a Shipping/Receiving Associate in the United States. You will unload incoming materials, verify documents, and process receipts. You will prepare shipments, complete bills of lading, and coordinate with Purchasing to resolve PO discrepancies.

The role requires 0-2 years related experience, a high school diploma or GED, and forklift certification. Ability to read work instructions and navigate shipping systems is important for timely, accurate performance.

Qualifications

  • Prior knowledge of postal or commercial shipping methods and procedures.
  • High School diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and unload incoming materials; verify packing slip vs purchase order.
  • Process receipts for incoming property and coordinate PO/material certificate discrepancies.
  • Inspect shipments for damages; document discrepancies and notify supervisor.
  • Prepare shipments for mailing; select economical shipping method; pack items securely.
  • Prepare bills of lading; confirm quantities, destination, and routing.
  • Track lost shipments; initiate proof of delivery documentation.
  • Maintain department database; prepare routine reports; file shipping/receiving records.
  • Operate dolly, pallet jack, or forklift; band and shrink wrap palletized orders.
  • Follow department policies, safety standards, and continuous quality improvement goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Receives and unloads incoming materials and compares information on packing slip with purchase order to verify accuracy of shipment; may process return shipments from customers.
  • Sorts, counts, packages, labels, ensures, unpacks, and processes receipts for incoming property; coordinates with Purchasing to correct any purchase order or material certificate discrepancies.
  • Inspects shipments for damages or defects; records discrepancies or damages and notifies supervisor and/or purchasing personnel.
  • Prepares shipments for postal or commercial conveyance; determines most economical and efficient shipping method; selects appropriate shipping container; packs items to ensure safe delivery.
  • Prepares bills of lading; checks items to be shipped against work orders to ascertain that quantities, destination, and routing are correct.
  • Traces lost shipments and/or customer claims of lost shipments; initiates proof of delivery documents.
  • May maintain department database, prepare routine reports, and file shipping/receiving records.
  • May operate dolly, pallet jack, and/or forklift in loading and unloading supplies and equipment; will band and shrink wrap palletized orders for shipment.
  • Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
  • Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Experience
