Job summary

RRD is seeking a shipping & receiving professional for an on-site role in Michigan. The position involves preparing and shipping customer samples and finished products, maintaining documentation, and assisting with material handling using hand trucks and small tools.

Applicants should have 1–2 years in shipping & receiving, prefer manufacturing exposure, and be willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed to meet demand.

Qualifications

• Requires ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently.
• Standing constantly and walking as part of the shift.
• 1-2 years experience in shipping & receiving; manufacturing background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual and clerical duties related to preparation and shipment of customer samples, components and finished products.
• Maintain necessary files and documentation.
• Use small hand tools and scales; operate metering machines; move materials with hand trucks.
• Pack goods for shipment; prepare bills of lading; attach shipping instructions.
• Receive materials; check against bills of lading and packing slips; route to inspection or storage.
• Train and support new and existing team members.

Job Description

Work is typically performed independently. Receives instruction/guidance from manager/supervisor about the work when assistance is requested or when assigned new tasks. Able to exercise moderate level of discretion and latitude in completing tasks and prioritizing work. Work is typically completed by following established policies and procedures.

• Performs manual and clerical duties related to the preparation and shipment of customer samples, components and finished products mailed primarily through Fed Ex, UPS, USPS or other similar carrier.
• Maintain necessary files and documentation.
• Utilizes small hand tools and operate scales, metering machines, etc. and primarily use hand trucks to move materials around.
• Typical shipping activities include: checking goods against shipping documents and authorizations, packing goods for shipment according to specifications, preparing bills of lading, posting weight and shipping charges and attach information and shipping instructions on to boxes.
• May occasionally perform activities related to the receiving materials such as unpacking of goods; checking against bills of lading, packing slips, etc., identification and quantity; maintaining records of goods received; rejects damaged, excess or misdirected goods, routes material to inspection, stores or other destinations.
• Responsible for training and supporting new and existing team members.

Qualifications

• Job requires ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Standing constantly (over 2/3 of time), walking frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of time)
• 1-2 years experience in shipping & receiving
• Previous experience in manufacturing environment preferred
• Must be able to work assigned shift
• Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays when necessary to meet product demand

Additional Information

The salary range for this role at the noted RRD location is $13.50- $15.00 / hour. Starting pay decisions are determined based on multiple factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, skills, experience, certifications, proficiency, performance, shift, location, and other business needs. Typically, roles follow step progressions to a target rate or set increments over time. Depending on the role, in addition to the hourly rate of pay, the total compensation package may also include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and/or stand-by pay.
