Job summary

RRD in Sacramento, CA seeks a Shipping & Receiving Associate to perform routine order fulfillment and packaging tasks. You will verify shipments, prepare bills of lading, and maintain accurate records in a manufacturing setting.

This role requires physical stamina to lift 20–50 lbs, standing most of the shift, and flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed to meet demand. Prior shipping experience is preferred; training is provided.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years experience in shipping & receiving.
• Standing constantly, walking regularly during shifts.
• Must be able to work assigned shift and overtime when required.
• Experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform packing, load shipments, and prepare bills of lading.
• Check goods against shipping documents and instructions.
• Maintain records of shipments and receipts.
• Operate scales and small hand tools as needed.
• Move materials using hand trucks and prepare shipments via FedEx/UPS/USPS.

Job Description

Work is typically performed independently. Receives instruction/guidance from manager/supervisor about the work when assistance is requested or when assigned new tasks. Able to exercise moderate level of discretion and latitude in completing tasks and prioritizing work. Work is typically completed by following established policies and procedures.

• Performs manual and clerical duties related to the preparation and shipment of customer samples, components and finished products mailed primarily through Fed Ex, UPS, USPS or other similar carrier.
• Maintain necessary files and documentation.
• Utilizes small hand tools and operate scales, metering machines, etc. and primarily use hand trucks to move materials around.
• Typical shipping activities include: checking goods against shipping documents and authorizations, packing goods for shipment according to specifications, preparing bills of lading, posting weight and shipping charges and attach information and shipping instructions on to boxes.
• May occasionally perform activities related to the receiving materials such as unpacking of goods; checking against bills of lading, packing slips, etc., identification and quantity; maintaining records of goods received; rejects damaged, excess or misdirected goods, routes material to inspection, stores or other destinations.

Qualifications

• Job requires ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Standing constantly (over 2/3 of time), walking frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of time)
• 1-2 years experience in shipping & receiving
• Previous experience in manufacturing environment preferred
• Must be able to work assigned shift
• Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays when necessary to meet product demand

Additional Information

The national pay range for this role is $18.00 - $20.00 per hour. The pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location of the hired employee. The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location.

In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
