Job summary

RR Donnelley & Sons in Midland, MI is seeking a Shipping & Receiving Associate to support the packaging and shipment of samples, components, and finished products with FedEx, UPS, and USPS. You will maintain files, operate scales and simple hand tools, move materials with hand trucks, and ensure proper packing and documentation per policy, with training provided for new team members.

Overtime, weekend and holiday shifts may be required to meet product demand.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years experience in shipping & receiving.
• Must be able to work assigned shift.

• Performs manual and clerical duties related to the preparation and shipment of customer samples, components and finished products.

• Utilizes small hand tools and operate scales, metering machines, etc. and primarily use hand trucks to move materials around.
• Typical shipping activities include: checking goods against shipping documents and authorizations, packing goods for shipment according to specifications, preparing bills of lading, posting weight and shipping charges and attach information and shipping instructions on to boxes.
• May occasionally perform activities related to receiving materials such as unpacking, checking against bills of lading, packing slips, etc., identification and quantity; maintaining records of goods received; rejects damaged, excess or misdirected goods, routes material to inspection, stores or other destinations.

Work is typically performed independently. Receives instruction/guidance from manager/supervisor about the work when assistance is requested or when assigned new tasks. Able to exercise moderate level of discretion and latitude in completing tasks and prioritizing work. Work is typically completed by following established policies and procedures.

• Maintain necessary files and documentation.
• Utilizes small hand tools and operate scales, metering machines, etc. and primarily use hand trucks to move materials around.
• Typical shipping activities include: checking goods against shipping documents and authorizations, packing goods for shipment according to specifications, preparing bills of lading, posting weight and shipping charges and attach information and shipping instructions on to boxes.

Qualifications

• Job requires ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Standing constantly (over 2/3 of time), walking frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of time)
• 1-2 years experience in shipping & receiving
• Previous experience in manufacturing environment preferred
• Must be able to work assigned shift
• Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays when necessary to meet product demand

Additional Information

Thesalary range for this role at the noted RRD location is $13.50- $15.00 / hour. Starting pay decisions are determined based on multiple factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, skills, experience, certifications, proficiency, performance, shift, location, and other business needs.Typically, roles follow step progressions to a target rate or set increments over time. Depending on the role, in addition to the hourly rate of pay, the total compensation package may also include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and/or stand-by pay.
