Job summary

Supreme Rice, LLC is seeking a Shipping Manager in Crowley, LA to oversee shipping and by-products operations and to drive efficiency across the logistics chain.

You will set schedules, guide machine operators, maintain safety and HACCP compliance, and coordinate with QC and Logistics to meet customer specifications and capacity targets.

Qualifications

• Must follow GMPs and Personnel Practices.
• Must understand and explain PPE requirements.
• Must be forklift certified or willing to certify.
• Schedule and manage loading of finished products.

Responsibilities

• Oversee shipping and by-products operations; set schedules and track time.
• Ensure departments are clean and maintenance is performed.
• Direct machine operators to meet customer specifications; coordinate with QC.
• Communicate with Logistics to ensure schedules are met at capacity.
• Order equipment and supplies as needed.
• Document information on shipping documents.
• Lift/move materials up to 75 lb as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Manager.

Shipping Manager is responsible for the operations of the shipping and by-products departments. The supervisor is responsible for setting schedules for employees, and ensuring that the employees are performing the correct tasks adequately and tracking their time. Is responsible for the cleanliness of both departments, and will instruct maintenance of any repairs needed. Will direct machine operators for making adjustments as needed to meet customer specifications and work closely with QC to ensure that all product specifications are met concerning both rice and packaging qualities. Will be in constant communication with Logistics department concerning the schedule (including, giving feedback) to ensure that it is both met and scheduled for the highest capacity. Will be responsible for ordering equipment and supplies as needed.

Requirements:

• Must understand and follow company Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Personnel Practices.
• Must understand and explain the use and requirements of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Must be Forklift Certified or subject to certification training.
• Schedule and manage the loading process of finished products.
• Document information on all necessary shipping documents.
• Perform minor repairs on conveyors and elevators as needed using hand tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers.
• Be willing and physically capable of performing other tasks within different departments of the mill on a temporary basis as needed.
• Abide by all safety regulations and standards established by Supreme Rice.
• Must understand and follow all monitoring actives defined in the HACCP Plan.
• Must report all food safety issues to personnel with authority to initiate action.
• Portion of this job may require you to lift material weighing 75 lb.
• Perform other duties directed by your Manager.
• Must be able to fulfill essential job function in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
