Job summary

ABB Inc. is seeking a hybrid-based Import/Export Operations professional in the US. You will supervise customs brokers and ensure efficient, compliant execution of local trade activities and documentation.

You will also maintain up-to-date knowledge of international shipping regulations, support project teams, and travel roughly 20% to meet business needs. This role reports to Project Operations Manager and supports ABB’s Electrification Solutions in the US.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in operational and logistic management.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Experience in trade compliance and international shipping.

Responsibilities

• Act as point of contact for customs brokers.
• Audit customs brokers for correctness of entries, invoicing and archiving.
• Manage documentation and forms for import/export activities.
• Maintain knowledge of import/export laws, procedures, tariffs, licenses and restrictions.

This position reports to:

Project Operations Manager

In this role, you will have the opportunity to be responsible for local import/export operations. Each day, you will supervise performance of customs brokers. You will also showcase your expertise by ensuring smooth execution of operational trade and customs activities within a local unit, including relevant documentation and compliance with regulations.
The work model for the role is: Hybrid {#LI-Hybrid}
This role is contributing to the Electrification Solutions business in the US.
You will be mainly accountable for:

• Acting as point of contact for customs brokers in case of clarification needs (e.g., regarding valuation or classification of products).
• Auditing customs brokers regarding the correctness of customs entries, invoicing, and archiving.
• Managing the necessary documentation and online forms for the efficient, cost-effective, and lawful execution of all import/export activities.
• Maintaining and sharing with colleagues, as appropriate, personal knowledge of all relevant import/export laws and procedures, tariffs, duties, licenses, and restrictions.

Qualifications for the role

• You enjoy working with past paced, complex projects
• You have 5 years of experience in operational and logistic management
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• You are passionate about getting things right the first time
• Degree in Supply Chain and Logistics Management, preferred
• Proven experience in trade compliance and international shipping
• Ability to travel (~20%)
• Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
