Job summary

Atkore in Cartersville, GA is seeking a Shipping Lead for 2nd shift, 4:00pm-12:30am, Monday–Friday, with a $26.00/hour base pay plus a $1.00/hour shift differential. The role leads shipping/receiving activities, coordinates subordinates, and ensures materials are picked, packed, and shipped efficiently.

You’ll maintain inventory records, support Lean initiatives, and uphold safety and PPE practices in a high‑speed environment. Overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required or equivalent.
• Shipping/receiving experience preferred; 2 years minimum.
• Ability to read a tape measure and operate in a fast-paced environment.

Who we are looking for: We are currently searching for a Shipping Lead to be based out of Cartersville, GA. Reporting to the Shipping Supervisor, this person will be responsible for performing many of the duties of the forklift driver, but they are also responsible for leading the work of others and participating in work related to shipping, receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing, and delivering a variety of materials, equipment, and supplies. Works with independence in carrying out duties with limited supervision.Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.

What you’ll do:

• Coordinate the activities of subordinates
• Actively participate in Atkore’s safety program
• Cross train in different areas of the Shipping Department as required
• Ensure all processes are carried out with the required use of safety controls and PPE
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, follow standardized work and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment
• Load material onto trucks in a safe manner.
• Maintains inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock; recording location of inventory.
• Locates materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on production orders.
• Maintains in-process inventory at work centers by delivering and opening materials and supplies.
• Documents materials and supplies disposition by recording units delivered and location of units.
• Receives credit-return material and supplies from production by verifying materials and supplies code and lot number and quantity; placing materials in stock.
• Prepares finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing product.
• Documents product shipment by recording units shipped.
• Maintains material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections; making operator repairs.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

What you’ll bring:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Two years of shipping/receiving experience OR any equivalent combination of experience and /or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved
• Two years of PIT operation experience preferred
• Ability to read tape measure
• Ability to work scheduled shift Monday-Friday
• Ability to stand and work a 10-hour shift in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment
• Must be willing to work overtime as needed
