Job summary

New-Indy Containerboard in Cerritos, CA is seeking a forklift operator to load/unload materials, inspect equipment and ensure safe, efficient material handling. You will locate stock, deliver to machines, verify quality, and complete paperwork accurately.

Efficient operation, adherence to schedules, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment are essential. OSHA forklift certification and prior experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Manufacturing experience in corrugated industry preferred.
• Read and follow factory master instructions.
• Knowledge of material-handling equipment is an asset.
• Prior forklift operator experience preferred.
• Knowledge of product quality specifications.
• Understand equipment design/capabilities for efficient operation.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Forklift certification per OSHA standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate powered industrial trucks to load and unload materials and deliveries.
• Complete forklift inspections before shift and after using a new forklift.
• Locate stock before the start of the run.
• Deliver stock to machines safely and on time.
• Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards.
• Complete necessary paperwork accurately and timely.
• Maximize equipment utilization and operate at available capacity and speed.
• Adhere to daily production schedule and help optimize it for cost, quality, delivery, and service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operation and care of forklift in a safe manner. Must be qualified to properly operate the forklift.
• Complete and document a forklift inspection form before start of shift and when operating a new forklift and turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs.
• Locate stock before the start of the run.
• Deliver appropriate stock to appropriate machines safely and on time
• Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards.
• Complete necessary paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
• Maximize the utilization of equipment by operating the machinery at available capacity and speed.
• Adheres to daily production schedule. Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, delivery, and service goals.
• Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to: production data, machine operational status, safety data, quality data.
• Duties may be expanded upon and additional duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QualificationsSKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
